Tumblr-Gate
I am checking out Posterous because, despite my deep love of Tumblr, and the huge injection of captial they received only 2 months ago (http://on.mash.to/gkyept), it is down more than it's up these days.
My confidence in the Tumblr platform and its management team is at rock bottom.
The final straw has been that David Karp, Tumblrs founder clearly could not give one shit about people like me who pay good money to use his premium service. In response to a customer complaint from William Tildesley about down time he replied :
“…we have no interest in customers that will go out of their way to discourage our entire team” continuing to say that this is a “…team that regularly spends their nights and weekends working feverishly to provide the best service we can against extraordinary challenges”. He signed off saying that “Plenty of services will import Tumblr blogs. Please go away.”

Time to move on, and find a platform which is reliable, fun, and gives a fuck about it's users.

NOTE : Here’s the original e-mail William sent.
I am writing this email to you to express my recent disappointment with Tumblr.
Not only with the level of uptime tumblr has had over the past few months, but with countless issues posting, queueing (which I only realised was down when I visited your help page), and your ‘backup’ mac application deciding not to work.
I would move to a different service, but with no export feature and with the friendships I’ve made through tumblr I will have to hope that you fix these issues in the near future.
Yours Truly Disappointed,
William Tildesley
